THE MIDNIGHT SUN CAMP JUNE 20th - 24th 2007 LAPLAND
HospitalityClub and Couchsurfing
About the Camp
- The camp requires some hikingstamina and knowledge of staying in the nature (or then just the right sporty attitude ;-).
- Place is very simple and the camp is about simple things like outdoors activities, challenging your body and mind (with the mosquitoes too ;-) and peaceful athmosphere experiencing the quiet nature of Lapland.
- You should not expect 4 days of partying in the traditional vodkaway, but a different kind of big party - party of the nature and it's phenomena in great company.
- We have also finnish 'guides' amongst us to tell you about nature and show you the way when hiking. You'll also get your own map for hiking. So if you have a compass, be sure to take it with you!"
How Much does it cost
- the fee to pay in advance is 35 euros to cover the expences of food, renting the cottage, sauna and the firewood we're inevitably going to use for heating the cottage and sauna and burning campfires
- the fee doesn't include the transportation to the place. Hitch-hiking all the way to Tuntsa is virtually impossible (although it's relatively easy to get to a few bigger centres in Lapland that way) We are trying to organize all the trasportation to the cottage
What we are going to do there...
- After the arriving day - when we first set the camp and get to know eachother - we'll make daily guided hiking trips of 7-20 km in smaller groups. Usually with ready hiking trails and gravel roads, but there is also a possibility to offroad hiking for these who are interested
- there will be sauna every evening after hiking with the possibility to swim a bit too
- we'll have every morning breakfast together, make our picnic lunch for the hike, and in the evening we'll have our snacks and dinner together
- evening is reserved for relaxing time, maybe with some sounds of guitar(s) too ;-)
- and that's it folks: simple things make you feel good !
More info about the place:
1. it’s not so warm yet that time of the year, so the sleeping bag,
mattressess etc should be good (ie warm) when sleeping outside.
2. there is in fact somekind of oil based central heating in the cottage
(owner just said it’s probably better to warm it a bit at that time still)
3. their is gas stove and a woodstove, and a little gasfridge, but no cellar,
but the river keeps things cold (and even outside during the nighttime)
4. the river is quite small but beside the sauna the river is about 8-9
meters wide and about 1 m of water, so you can swim there also
